Sooke at the 2010 Olympics

The District of Sooke is proud to take part in the Richmond Ozone Official Celebration Site for the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver!

The Richmond Ozone, an official celebratory site, is amassed over 60 acres in the heart of Richmond. The District of Sooke is proud to be partaking in the BC Streets Pavilion with 6 other regional communities from around BC. Located in the Ozone games site, BC Streets is a significant opportunity for communities within the province to provide the world a window into the region’s experience. With an expected 15,000 local and international visitors per day, the District of Sooke is extremely excited to show our region’s vast potential to the world!

We are proud to deliver an authentic Sooke experience for the BC Streets Pavilion. The overall concept portrays Sooke’s new boardwalk along the waterfront. This boardwalk seamlessly blends with the natural beauty of the region. Sooke offers an abundance of breath taking eco-tourism possibilities, which can be seen through the display in its astonishing artistry and meticulous landscaping. With the help of several volunteers within the community, including but not limited to the Sooke Fire Department, local business patrons and regional artisans, the District of Sooke’s display successfully blends our region’s immense beauty, unique arts and culture scene and developmental growth. This success reflects the community’s love for our region and we feel it accurately depicts why we are proud to call Sooke home!

During the 17-day event, we will be posting content daily on our blog from several members of our team to relay our experience at the BC Streets Pavilion with those at home and abroad. Please check back daily to get the latest news and experiences from the 2010 BC Streets!
